This press release focuses on Centennial College's Fitness and Health Promotion program which prepares graduates for rewarding careers and employment in the field of Health Studies.

TORONTO - A world of career and employment opportunities exist in Canada for college and university students graduating in Health Studies. Health promotion programs are more popular with students looking to be successfully employed in the field as many with a degree in health studies work in public health policy at the local, regional, national, or international level. Centennial College's Fitness and Health Promotion program prepares graduates for a rewarding career assisting individuals and groups to reach their highest potential for overall well-being.

Centennial College's fitness training program allows students to experience hands-on learning opportunities while using its newly constructed Athletic and Wellness Centre. They are instructed by expert faculty that nurture student knowledge and skill development and provide access to cutting edge fitness concepts. Students have the opportunity for eligibility to earn nationally recognized certifications and to apply effective leadership skills to work inter-professionally with individual clients, groups, and staff in health and wellness fitness programs activities at the college.

Centennial's graduates have demonstrated the ability to assess the fitness level, health issues and overall well-being of individual clients and to effectively apply practices to the design, implementation and management of fitness and lifestyle programs. A wide range of careers exist, including: fitness instructor, personal trainer, fitness consultant and wellness/fitness program developer. Graduates can work in health promotion, client placement coordination, community outreach, decision analysis, disease prevention, and in health education. Examples of agencies employing those in health studies include: Health Canada, Citizenship and Immigration Canada, Veterans Affairs, and Stats Canada. Some graduates choose to remain in academic research or go into consulting, where they often combine these with teaching at a university or hospital. Others work for private healthcare-related firms such as in pharmaceuticals or medical equipment. The field is thriving with career opportunities and Centennial's program graduates are well-prepared to succeed in them.
