Catherine Sergautis’s travels have taken her far and wide over the years, even if she always returns home to London, Ontario. This time, Catherine Sergautis is proud to announce, she is traveling all the way to India. “India has been on my list of dream destinations for a long time,” Catherine Sergautis notes. “I can’t wait to eat authentic Indian food, to hear the music. I’m very excited. I’ve been watching a lot of Bollywood films and the energy is infectious.”

India is home to some of the world’s most beautiful sights, including the Taj Mahal, a monument in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India, built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal in the seventeenth century. “I’m particularly looking forward to visiting the Taj Mahal,” said Catherine Sergautis. “It is the ultimate monument to love, really. It was built out of such great devotion.”

Catherine Sergautis’s daughter will accompany her on this trip. The child, only 2 year old, has already traveled widely. “I’ve taken her all over Canada, and we’ve been to Germany and some other areas of Western Europe. We’ve also been to New York and San Francisco. She loves to travel, although the time differences can mean we keep very strange hours. Babies don’t really understand jet lag,” laughs Catherine Sergautis.

Other famous sites that Catherine Sergautis hopes to visit include the Gandhi Museum, the Elephanta Caves, and the Lotus Temple. “There are a lot of famous temples and shrines I’d like to visit. I also really want to take in the markets. I’d love to buy my own sari. And open air markets are the best place to try local food,” says Catherine Sergautis, who counts curries and flavorful chutneys among her favorite foods. “I’m looking forward to eating fresh naan and chapatti,” two traditional Indian breads, notes Catherine Sergautis.

Catherine Sergautis leaves next week for her big Indian trip and is caught up in the whirlwind of packing. “I needed to get my daughter and I all the right vaccinations to travel to India. Now I’m doing all the extra packing that comes with traveling with a child,” Catherine Sergautis observes.
