How it Works

Depending on the specifications of the customer, a MagnetoPot can serve the functions of a rheostat, a resistor, or a voltage divider. Potentiometer operators can obtain linear position sensing based on the location of the exterior magnet by bringing it within the proximity necessary to connect with the internal magnetic attractors.

Similar to how traditional membrane potentiometers operate, the MagnetoPot gives a linear position feedback with the motion of the external magnet. To put it simply, the electrical output of the MagnetoPot moves whenever the exterior magnet does.

No Contact Strengths

The MagnetoPot is different from other potentiometers because it requires no physical contact with the motion device to work. The MagtnetoPot uses an N42SH grade Neodymium magnet as the tracking magnet of the sensor. Spectra Symbol is partners with K&J Magnetics to offer mating drive magnets.

According to the manufacturers, the no contact motion tracking of the MagnetoPot allows it to act as both a magnetic potentiometer and a liquid level sensor. Users can attach the potentiometer to the outside of the liquid tank and give the position of the magnet inside the float. Water ingress and environmental wearing on the part does not occur, because the device is away from the activity. The Resolution of the electrical output depends on the exterior magnet strength, and its distance with the MagnetoPot.
