CSR pertains to the company’s social obligation to benefit the immediate community per se and the broader society. A CSR program is usually undertaken to contribute to the welfare of the people by sharing the business resources with them.

Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI) organized a series of corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities in Cebu, reporting on its accomplishments for the first half of 2021. In addition, RAFI reports on its physical, economic, and social wellbeing activities.
Under the Humanitarian Disaster Preparedness and Response (HDPR), RAFI was able to aid in pandemic-related undertakings. HDPR provides more than 8,000 PPEs to medical frontliners. It also supported 450 COVID patients. The program also supported the massive vaccination rollout of the local government, providing Php1.4 million worth of medical equipment and supplies to NOAH Mega Vaccination Center.
Health and nutrition grants are provided to the children through the Dolores Aboitiz Children’s Fund (DACF). About 2,297 children benefited from the grant, with 1,709 of which realized increased nutritional status. In addition, with the assistance of the Cebu City Nutritional Council, DACF established the Cebu City Nutrition Network (CCNN). DACF also provided grants to promote early childhood education, reaching 562 children in three communities.
Nonetheless, RAFI also has EDU, or the Education Development Unit, that provides grants and programs for the educational needs of the locals. Its hallmark project is the School Rebuild Program, which aims to build classrooms. A total of 36 classrooms are being constructed at present, with near 50% completion. This will be turned over this 2021 and an additional 42 classrooms by the first half of 2022.
Local leaders are empowered anew through RAFI’s Center for Leaders (CFL). The center equipped 4,292 leaders through its 123 virtual learning sessions. CFL’s achieved outstanding course quality with its course effectiveness score of 94.1%. Moreover, the program launched its Youth Community, which aims to engage alumni through various advocacy programs.
RAFI’s Micro Finance (MFI) program served over 500,000 clients, providing financial assistance to over 362,000 borrowers. MFI also opened three extension offices and 36 branches, bringing the total number of branches to 255 in various regions of the Philippines. In addition, MFI also strengthened its Tindahan ni Nanay (TNN) program. As such, it supported its 4,219 microentrepreneur members, generating Php3.4 million in sales.
RAFI also has environmental programs through One to Tree (OTT). Championing biodiversity, OTT successfully partnered with Gcash to allow more Filipinos to plant more trees. As a result, the program was able to book 626,720 seedlings while seedlings already planted realized a 93% survival rate. OTT also engaged 518 Cebu and Davao farmers.
For RAFI and its entities, the first part of 2021 has already been worthwhile. Indeed, things will look even better for the second half of the year.
