Guidelines In Writing A Free Bill Of Sale Form?

Posted June 20, 2018 by carlglendon

Every time you sell an item of value, you should always provide your customer a documentation or proof of purchase.

What if you’re the buyer this time? Isn’t it convenient that the seller handed you paperwork proving you are now the legit owner? A free bill of sale form is the best option in these circumstances.

Purpose

A printable bill of sale serves as a written record of the transaction details wherein it also gives the buyer a piece of paper transferring the ownership of a sold item. Whenever you make a sale or seal a deal, a free bill of sale form is a useful document you can use as reference for tax purposes. An automobile bill of sale is mostly used and at times state law requires it when someone sells vehicles, bike, cars, trucks and even appliances, electronics and industrial equipment.

Process

You can opt to write your own bill of sale. However, if your business requires you to make them often, using a printable bill of sale is more convenient and saves time. A car bill of sale template (for car dealers) is usually available online and is printable. It’s a standard practice that a bill of sale is written during the transaction and both parties should be furnished a copy once payment is done. If you are the seller, it’s a must that you sign the document. For minor items, buyer may not need to sign, but for high value transactions such as car ownership transfer, buyer is required to sign the paper.
