Cannabliss, the Florida-based wholesale distributor of medical and legal recreational marijuana products has applauded the pre-filing of a bill that, if passed, would legalize the use of marijuana by persons over the age of 21.

State Rep. Bill McCamley pre-filed House Bill 75, entitled the “Cannabis Revenue & Freedom Act,” late last year.

If passed, House Bill 75 would permit adults aged 21 and older to legally purchase and possess marijuana within the state’s boundaries. Sales would attract taxes in much the same way as those in neighboring Colorado do. The bill would also allow industrial hemp cultivation and production.

Brad Flint, press spokesman at Cannabliss said, “We feel this Bill is particularly worthy because it doesn’t simply advocate legalization of marijuana for the sake of those who derive benefit from its well-documented medicinal properties. At its heart, it also seeks to push a common sense rationale which would see marijuana sales taxed with the revenues used to benefit the state and its inhabitants rather than enriching illegal growers and drug pushers.”

Speaking to a local television station, Rep. McCamley said, “When you look at Colorado on our other border, they’ve brought in around $100 million in increased tax revenue, so this is a really good way of hurting drug cartels and helping our business community and our schools at the same time.”

Cannabliss says it is confident that the vote on legalization of medical marijuana use in its native Florida will be passed in November 2016 and is planning to launch a small chain of 22 cafes that will sell both imported and locally-sourced cannabis infused edible products.
