Byron A Brown is an MD with the kind of passion and discipline that has made him a stand-out in the medical field. Over the course of his career, Dr. Brown has earned a number of accolades, special recognitions, and positions. His success has been attributed to his love of medicine, his concern for his patients, as well as his determination to improve.

Dr. Brown’s achievements began when he graduated from Winthrop University with a Bachelor’s of Science in only three years. Once he finished that, Dr. Brown became a Surgical Assistant to the Assistant Professor of Surgery Dr. McCardle at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. From there, Dr. Brown would receive his Medical Doctorate from the same university.

Dr. Brown pursued his education with fervor. He received a four-year academic scholarship to go to Winthrop University. While at the university he would continue to impress. Dr. Brown won a departmental award from the university in many categories, including Developmental Biology, Immunology, Microbiology, and Ecology. The list of academic achievements does not end there. Dr. Brown also found himself on the Dean’s List, the National Honor Society of Alpha Lambda Delta, and he also received the Janet Rankin Aiken Memorial Award.

Dr. Brown continued to show his aptitude for excellence when he completed his formal education. He began his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon, Georgia. It was not long before he became the Chief Resident at the Medical Center of Central Georgia. Only a few years later Dr. Brown would also receive a certification from the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. In the same year that he became certified through the board, Dr. Brown also became a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Interestingly, Byron A Brown MD was not certain he wanted to go into obstetrics and gynecology while he was in medical school. It was not until his third year of medical school that he decided to specialize in obstetrics and gynecology because he says he, “enjoyed delivering babies and being able to do surgery and office medicine.”
