After losing a lifelong friend to cancer in 2011, Bryan Lenett is proud to announce the launch of CancerShare, a social media platform designed to connect cancer patients everywhere. As Rebecca Jimenez battled cancer, Bryan Lenett would encourage her and tell her that not only would she survive, but she would also touch other cancer patients with her story and inspire them. Though she passed away in 2011, Rebecca’s spirit and legacy are impacting cancer patients and their loved ones around the world.

Bryan Lenett launched a beta version of CancerShare, uniting the cancer community both in the United States and abroad. Unlike other social media sites such as Facebook or Twitter, CancerShare is designed specifically for cancer patients to provide support and encouragement. Bryan Lenett realized that cancer patients face emotional trauma as much as they do physical illness. Because cancer is such a devastating sickness, patients often feel alone and isolated, as though no one else in the world understands their struggle.

While every cancer story is unique, Bryan Lenett hopes that CancerShare allows patients to see that they’re not alone, but that there are other people like them who are experiencing what they’re experiencing. By uniting people through their experiences, Bryan Lenett is fostering an international online cancer community of support and storytelling.

Though CancerShare is designed specifically for patients, doctors and many medical professionals are also on the site, allowing patients to communicate directly with healthcare professionals when needed. Family members and friends are also present.

When designing CancerShare, Bryan Lenett wanted to create a platform that seemed familiar and intuitive to use. Utilizing his skill as a web and app developer, Bryan Lenett designed the site to similarly resemble social media sites that internet users are already familiar with. Because CancerShare is designed specifically for those battling cancer, it provides the privacy and support that people desire.

Though it has been two years since Rebecca passed away, her legacy and spirit are touching the lives of cancer patients around the globe. Bryan Lenett hopes that he can continue to make that promise real through maintaining CancerShare and eventually growing it past beta.
