Vinyasa Yoga: A form of yoga which provides countless benefits

The term “Vinyasa” is a Sanskrit word which literally refers to “connection”. In terms of asanas of yoga, it interprets between the connection between movement and breath.

 
The term “Vinyasa” is a Sanskrit word which literally refers to “connection”. In terms of asanas of yoga, it interprets between the connection between movement and breath. Vinyasa Yoga is a form of yoga which uses the breathing and posture techniques with synchronization which provides a range of countless health benefits. Sometimes, this style of yoga also called as flow yoga because it includes a smooth way in which poses run and look like a dance. The breathing is also one of the most important components in this form of yoga and the teacher will also instruct to move from one pose to the next on an inhale or an exhale.

What does “go through vinyasa in your own” mean?
Vinyasa actually includes a series of three poses that are to be done in sequence of sun salutations. So, when the yoga master says, “go through vinyasa yoga in your own pace”, it means you have to do plank, chaturanga, and upward facing dog style.

How vinyasa yoga is different?
Just like Hatha Yoga, Vinyasa yoga is also varies in some important ways from its predecessor. In Vinyasa Yoga, the asanas are linked together in the series of transitions that are synchronized with the breathing. Munu attention is placed on the breathing and movements in an out of the postures (asanas). In simple words, upward movements generally start with inhalations of breath and downward movements correlate with exhalations.

Sun Salutations
Many yoga classes start from sun salutations. This is a sequence of postures that is done into the next. There are descriptions of some poses that are included in sun salutations:

Mountain Pose (Tadasana)
1. Stand in your own feet together.
2. Hold your arms in front of your body looking like you are doing prayer.
3. Lift your toes in upward direction, fan them out, and bring the toes back down again.
4. Bring back your feet on the ground and stretch your head upwards.
5. Draw your stomach in and then press your shoulders down.
6. Keep your shoulders and back aligned.

Raised Hand Pose (Urdhva Hastasana)
1. Continuing from Mountain Pose, lift your arms to your sides and then off of the floor.
2. Press your palms together over your head.
3. Bend your back and gaze towards your head.

Standing Forward Bend (Uttanasana)
1. Keep going with the Urdhva Hastasana, arch forward at the hips with your hands out to your side.
2. Bring your hands in front of your feet and try to touch your palms towards the floor.
3. Then, shift your weight to the balls of your feet by keeping your hips aligned with your ankles.
4. Let your hand behind your head loose.

Downward facing dog (Adhomukha Svanasana)
1. Push yourself down onto your hands and knees.
2. Then push yourself up with your toes and your legs must be straight.
3. Press your backside with hands while pushing your bottom off the ceiling.
4. Hang your head
5. Shift the body weight towards your heels.
6. Draw forward into the position of push-up.
7. Press your hips to the floor.
8. Bend your back and gaze up towards the direction of ceiling.
