As an Island Breeze Ruffles the Palm Fronds, Love and Hatred Collide

Portland, Jun 26, 2012 -- Sassy fourteen-year-old Milo Hestler just wants to escape for some peace and quiet. A summer camp in Australia seems perfect. However, plans go drastically awry when she must abandon her plane and jump, alone, into the ocean. An injury causes her to pass out in the water, and when she comes to, she discovers that she is now resting on the sandy shore of an island, and that she was rescued by a cute boy about her age.
The boy, though attractive and friendly, can't speak English, and Milo accidentally says yes when he proposes to her. The boy, whose name is Simon, is overjoyed, but when they locate an interpreter Milo is enraged to learn that she is now engaged. She is a girl of high principles and believes that she is far too young to have anything to do with marriage, and further more Simon is a perfect stranger. In Milo's strong opinion, you should be in love if getting married.
When she insists on calling the whole thing off, though, she is very menacingly informed that this particular island is governed by certain laws. Laws that are unbendable, unbreakable, and WILL be observed, even if through force.
Milo's anger over this injustice turns into smoldering hatred for Simon, despite his more than obvious affection for her. Their love and hate collide, as she tries her best to make him as miserable as she is, and he does everything he can think of to make her happy.
With the help of a shockingly smart six-year-old, friendly island citizens, and Milo's own snarky conscience, Bob the Conscience, can love triumph over hate? And will Milo be convinced that life on a tropical island isn't as bad as she thinks?
