The dentists and staff of Preferred Dental Care in Flushing, NY have taken a stand in support of art by coming out in full force to one of the most artistically inspiring settings in all of New York City and especially Queens, Kissena Park. Early on June 9, 2012 crowds of families and individuals came together under the trees by the lake in Kissena Park to demonstrate their artistic talents in the Kissena Park Civic Associations Art Contest. Contestants from age 2 to 70, families and individuals, came with their paints, pencils and crayons to create a piece of art - art that related to Kissena Park. From 9 am to 12 noon, many works of beauty and self-expression were created in a beautiful natural setting.

And Flushing Dentists? Preferred Dental Care was there with a table and tent handing out goody bags to all contestants, and contributed to the prizes to be awarded to the winners. Also out to show their support were local merchants including Walgreens and Duane Reade – handing out snacks and gifts. New York State Assemblyman, Rory Lancman was also there to support the art festival.

Flushing Dentist, Dr. Shilpa Trivedi, owner of Preferred Dental Care, said “I consider each member of my dental team to be an artist – every day we are creating beautiful smiles. The joy of creating beauty comes in many forms, and we encourage it. Flushing, and Kissena Park, are my home and neighborhood. My kids are growing up here. We love the park and our neighbors, and to see kids of all ages out on a pretty day creating art by the lake is a wonderful experience. Art is a healthy way for anyone to express themselves and share their creativity, not to mention that some of the participants were creating works of timeless beauty. I thank the Kissena Park Civic Association for this wonderful event.”
