K-pop craze mesmerizes youth all over the India

K-pop Delhi winners will perform in Grand India K-pop finale at Sirifort Auditorium on 09th July. Dance group ‘We are family crew’ and singer Stella K. Zodinpuii made their ways to Finale

 
Delhi witnessed an energetic evening and the occasion was K-pop Delhi regional round for 2018 Changwon K-POP World Festival: India powered by Vh1 India. The event aimed to select the Indian representatives for K-pop event in the world. The event was graced by ambassador of the Republic of Korea to India - H.E. Shin Bongkil, Director of Korean Cultural Centre India. Among 1216 participant from India, 95 Delhi participants were able to make it to the regional round at Delhi. Regional rounds are also happening in Mumbai, Chennai, Patna, Bengaluru, Odisha, Hyderabad, Mizoram and Manipur till 30th June. The winners will participate in India Grand Finale round at Siri Fort Auditorium on 09th July 2018 at 06:00 pm. The winners will have the final stage in Korea, October.
The Delhi winners who bagged their place for India Grand Finale Dance category were: 1st ‘We are family crew’, 2nd ‘WE13’, 3rd ‘Re-Creatorz’ group and winners in vocal category were: 1st Stella K. Zodinpuii, 2nd Prabha Behera and 3rd CoLight. Vocal winner Stella is also a shining student of K-pop Academy which is organized by Korean Cultural Centre and is on till 22nd June.An energetic dance performance was done by WE13 on MANSAE by 17. Vocal artist Shondhar Zimik performed Lee Hi – Breathe. The dance group Fearless Four consisting of Cara, Elizabeth, Nancy and Miria were bang on with their performance on BlackPink – As if it’s your last day. They tried their luck last year too and have been practicing K-pop for almost 4 years now. The duet vocal performance by sibling Hoisangkim and Genlalzui perfomed on Taeyang – Eyes, Nose Lips. They were practicing this competition from last year.
Total 23 performances took place with 94 participants. Some other groups were Underground Hustlers Crew, The Exponential Crew, Teenhearts, Re-creatorz, UNIcorns and more. Kim Kum-pyoung, Director of Korean Cultural Centre India, said “It’s time to say that K-wave and K-pop finally arrived in India after a long time of insignificant presence. We will witness the strong and enthusiastic fandom of K-pop in India, which will surprise Korean people as well.” He enthusiastically acknowledged Vh1 India’s new segment for K-pop, in response to the countless requests from the fans last year. Commenting on the association, Hashim D’Souza, Head of Programming – English Entertainment, Viacom 18, said “As the flag-bearer of International music and entertainment in India, we continue to bring the most trend setting content from across the globe. Looking at the immense popularity amongst Indian viewers for K-Pop, we are excited to partner with the ‘2018 Changwon K-POP World Festival: India’ and we know that K-pop fans across India will appreciate it.”
