Earlier this year, Alfa Chemistry announced to have released a series of intermediates for API about flu treatment, including oseltamivir intermediates, zanamivir intermediates, and peramivir intermediates, for its valued customers both at home and abroad. The company is now one of the world’s leading chemical suppliers of building blocks, reagents, catalysts, reference materials, and research chemicals as well as chemistry-related analytical and laboratory services.

Intermediate refers to material produced in the process of API in organic synthesis, which can only be turned into API by further molecular change or refinement. Intermediates can be separated or not separated. APIs (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients) are active components of a drug product. And together with suitable excipients, the dosage form of a pharmaceutical is finally manufactured.

Flu (influenza) is an easily spread respiratory tract infection caused by a virus. Each year Millions of people get the flu. To help with the flu, the treatment options include prescription and over-the-counter medications. During the manufacturing process of Flu drugs, intermediates for API are needed.

Alfa Chemistry provides the following three sub-types of intermediates for API to treat flu:

Oseltamivir Intermediates
Oseltamivir is an antiviral medication used to treat and prevent influenza A and influenza B (flu). Both (1S,5R,6S)-Ethyl 5-(pentan-3-yl-oxy)-7-oxa-bicyclo[4.1.0]hept-3-ene-3-carboxylate and (3R,4R,5S)-4-N-Acetyl(1,1-dimethylethyl)amino-5-N,N-diallylamino-3-(1-ethylpropoxy)-1-cyclohexene-1-carboxylic acid ethyl estermonohydrochloride are readily available.

Zanamivir Intermediates
Zanamivir is a neuraminidase inhibitor also used for the treatment and prevention of influenza caused by influenza A and B viruses. N-Acetylneuraminic acid, 4-Alpha-amino-N-acetyl-2-Deoxy-2,3-didehydro-d-neuraminate, Zanamivir, D-Glycero-D-galacto-non-2-enonic acid are all accessible at Alfa Chemistry.

Peramivir Intermediates
Peramivir is an inhibitor of the influenza neuraminidase enzyme and is used as therapy for acute symptomatic influenza A and B. It acts as a transition-state analogue inhibitor of influenza neuraminidase and thereby preventing new viruses from emerging from infected cells. The following chemicals are readily obtainable: 168683-02-1, 229613-93-8, 316173-29-2, 419563-22-7, and 316173-28-1.

In addition, Alfa Chemistry also has an integrated platform for APIs/intermediates development and manufacturing. Its capabilities range from preclinical to commercial stages.
