Redirected Fury: Paving the Way to Social Change with Millennial Anger

Posted March 27, 2023 by Bizfeed

Millennial anger has been dismissed as a weak force – until now. Redirected Fury shows how harnessing rage can lead to lasting social change!

Millennials are not enraged because they’ve been pampered; instead, their ire is directed at a select few billionaires who control society’s wealth and resources, even though they have the potential to create an improved tomorrow.

Millennial angst is spurred not by a notion that we are in the worst of times but instead from exhaustion and fury over how unyielding current realities can be, even though they could be vastly improved.

They understand intimately that life was gentler and more equitable for their parent’s generation, which only exacerbates outrage at what has been reduced to now.

In his groundbreaking book, I, Millennial, Melbourne comedian Tom Ballard unleashes a take-no-prisoners approach to the generational change regarding the ‘left’.

Tom Ballard proposes that the younger, working-class generation is now turning to the ‘Left’ for understanding and action. He recounted the life experiences that mobilised him and eventually led him to the welcoming arms of democratic socialism.

“It was clear to me that the disparate problems of inequality, racism, sexism and environmental destruction faced by young people today all stem from one root issue: an economic system that places profit over people. And I knew there had to be a better way.”

Redirected Fury is an effort to provide this “better way” through focused rage and strategic action. It is a call to arms for young people who, more so than ever, are beginning to realise their immense potential and want to use it to create lasting change.
“Young people are no longer content with status quo politics,” says Ballard. “We are ready to shake the foundations of the establishment and build a future that we can be proud of.”
