Birla Academy of Art & Culture takes pride in announcing Odissi Dance Workshop with the celebrated Odissi danseuse Aloka Kaungo between 2nd and 7th June 2016

 
Dance is an integral aspect of India’s rich cultural ethos and tradition! Dance forms like Odissi with its grace, beauty, storytelling and posture narrates the multiple nuances of life and depicts various mythical stories. As a connoisseur and facilitator of art and culture, Birla Academy of Art & Culture honours the Odissi dance form by organizing a workshop by esteemed Odissi danseuse Aloka Kaungo. Over the years of its existence this gallery have organized various cultural and art workshops other than its regular painting exhibitions. This workshop will be one of its kinds in the city of Kolkata for aspiring Odissi dancers and professional dancers.

The Odissi Dance Workshop 2016, organized by Birla Academy of Art & Culture is taking place between 2nd and 7th June 2016. The workshop will be held on all days of the allotted workshop dates barring Monday. This workshop is dedicated to children as well as expert dancers. Children above six years can attend this workshop between 4:00 to 6:00pm for an amount of Rs.1000. The advanced and expert dancers can attend the workshop from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. The dance items that will be covered in the workshop are Ganesh Bandana and Khamaj Pallavi. The workshop charges for 2 dance items will be Rs.3000 and for 1 dance item will be Rs.2000. In the entire day workshop candidates will have a lunch break between 1:00 pm to 2:00pm. The workshop details in terms of the dance items and the timings have been arranged in a way that it benefits the interested children and adult Odissi dancers and learners and inspire them to pursue the same ahead in their life.

Other than that, Aloka Kaungo is one of the leading Odissi dancers that India boasts today. She is a perfect combination of an ace dancer, scholar, teacher and choreographer. Being trained under the guidance of Odissi master Kelucharan Mahapatra, she is the best guru Odissi dancers and learners can have today. She is a popular name in Orissa and now Birla Academy of Art & Culture brings her to the city with the Odissi Dance Workshop 2016.
