The Birla Academy of Art and Culture has announced to present an exhibition of a collection of its paintings themed “Recent Acquisitions” at the academy premises from 5th March to 10th April 2016.

 
The Birla Academy of Art and Culture has announced to present an exhibition of a collection of its paintings themed “Recent Acquisitions” at the academy premises, which are the works by the contemporary artists under its flagship between the years 2011 to 2015. The paintings will be at display from Saturday, 5 March 2016 to Sunday, 10 April 2016. The timings are fixed from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. But at the same time it must be remembered that the exhibition will be closed down on Mondays and holidays. Again, another important thing to note down is that the paintings displayed at the exhibition are not for sale.

About the Organisation
In order to promote art and culture in Kolkata, The Birla Academy of Art & Culture was instituted by the art enthusiasts and leaders Shri and Smt. B.K. Birla in the year 1967. The Academy patronises the development of visual and performing art in the city and also globally and has become extremely popular for its approaches in the cultural, artistic and education activities.It was Shri Birla’s hobby of collecting various artefacts which resulted to the establishment of a public Charitable Trust in the year 1962 meant to collect, preserve and exhibit artwork to the public. The Academy still carries on with its activities of promoting and developing the scope of cultural and artistic growth in every sphere and in all ways possible. Currently it exhibits the artworks of many renowned artists of India and abroad and also hosts a series of workshops and educational and cultural performances and seminars and many other kinds of events from time to time. The Academy still carries on its 40 years old rich heritage within itself and fosters glorious saga of Kolkata’s memoirs with its own attempts.
