About the Organization
The Birla Academy of Art and Culture was built up in 1967 under the support of visionary pioneers Shri and Smt. B.K. Birla, to catalyze the development of art and culture in Kolkata. The Academy, being acclaimed today for its undertakings in artistic, instructive and social exercises, encourages the development of visual and performing arts. Shri Birla's Art assortment leisure activities came about to the foundation of a public Charitable Trust in the year 1962 which was intended to gather, save and display artwork to the public. The exercises of the Academy today are gathering, saving and showing museum objects, facilitating exhibitions, Organizing social exhibitions and instructive projects of shifted nature. Presently the foundation holds artworks of numerous famous artists of India and abroad.
