Painted Floor - For a really easy inexpensive project in theme to DIY house building, you could use floor paint right on a plywood base of a newly built floor. Make sure to choose high gloss floor paint. You really want a high gloss which creates a smooth easy surface to sweep and mop the dirt off. And a painted floor is so nice to maintain much easier than Lanolin, carpet or floating floor or wood panels making floor maintenance a breeze. If your painted floor gets inflicted with an unsightly scratch or ding, all you have to do is fill in the damaged spot with filler, sand and paint over, nice and easy.
Floor painting like this sure saves you from ripping out flooring later on. All you have to do is repair, repaint and you are finished. If you are worried a painted plywood floor will look like plywood sheets then you could add in faint lines in specific intervals with a circular saw running slight lines down the length of the floor boards so the floor ends up looking like wood panels. Now you can paint the floor starting farthest away from the doorway so you can leave the room and not trap yourself in. And now let the floor dry and add a second coat.

Linoleum - Now if you want to use linoleum instead of a painted floor, then skip number 1 and 2 and buy sheets of luan and glue them right onto the plywood surface. Luan are thin wood sheets and is used as an underlayment for vinyl flooring. And then glue the linoleum right on top of the luan. Now all you need is a couple of floor rugs, DIY house building at it's finest. Nice and easy!
