The world we live in is divided and with the death of George Floyd, Brianna Taylor and so many more, by the hands of police officers, police reform needs to be created, implemented and impactful within our communities. There is much history of law enforcement in our country that includes many efforts at police reform but left to the police to implement them, often with limited success. Author Antoinette James seeks to provide an inside look of her own life as a Detroit Police Officer and uses the experiences of her life growing up in the city of Ypsilanti, as an identical twin, a young mother of three daughters and her journey that led to becoming a Detroit Police Officer. She hopes her story will provide inspiration for readers as they face their own challenges and overcome what life throws at them.

“I have family roots here in the city of Ypsilanti, from my family coming over from Canada through the Underground Railroad, helping build the freeways here in Ypsilanti, my great Uncle Douglas Franklin having a major cleaning business for over 40 years and the Franklin family being a major support to the Messiah’s Temple Apostolic Church in Ypsilanti,” said Antoinette. “I’m honored to have the opportunity to go back home and into the community that knows me and share my journey and share my testimony with them.”
This is Mrs. James first book and is being printed by Travis Willis, owner of Ypsi Marketing and Print Company. Travis has been an owner for 15 years and is excited to be a part of this amazing accomplishment. “Covid hit hard and hurt very much,” Willis said. “All you have to do is ask the printer what’s going on in your community” he said. And “Printing is a place to get your word out and when Covid happened everything stopped. “I feel honored that she asked, and I am glad that we could provide great pricing, quality and great service.”

The book is available through Amazon or visit the website at www.badge3641detroit.com.
