Miami, FL: Bernie Navarro was recently named Chairman Emeritus of the Board of Trustees of the LBA Construction and Business Management Academy (LBA Academy). This is the first business-focused charter high school in the U.S. created by a professional association.

The Latin Builders Association (LBA) is the largest Latino construction and real estate professional association in the U.S. Mr. Navarro served as President of the LBA in 2011. He founded the LBA Academy the following year and has served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees. Classified as a State of Florida Title I school with a majority of students from underserved communities, the Academy graduated its inaugural class in 2016.

“Educational initiatives like the LBA Academy push the boundaries of traditional education,” Mr. Navarro explains. “Students not only receive a solid high school education, but also invaluable business training and experience.”

Mr. Navarro is a passionate proponent of education and serves in other positions that prepare and empower tomorrow’s leaders. He serves as a Governor-appointed member of the Board of Trustees for Miami Dade College, the largest and most diverse college in the U.S. and as a board member for the College’s Idea Center. In his role as an advisory board member to the University of Miami’s School of Business Administration, he contributed to the creation of the Center for Real Estate Studies and Research.
