Geneva (June 20, 2025) – SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has summarized the US state of New Hampshire’s expanded ban on intentionally added per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in consumer products.

HB 1649 (Chapter 349, codified as RSA 149-M:64) was approved in August 2024, with its prohibitions set to take effect on January 1, 2027. The governor has now signed HB 167 (Chapter 19) into law, which further expands the ban by including ski, boat and board waxes that contain intentionally added PFAS. Signed on May 14, 2025, the new measure amends RSA 149-M:64, IV ‘Product Ban’, by adding the following to the scope of the January 1, 2027, prohibitions: “Waxes produced for use on boats, skis, surfboards, bodyboards or skimboards.”
