Geneva (May 2, 2025) – SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 046.25, exploring ISO PAS 8800, a recently published standard addressing the Functional Safety of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies used in vehicles. Together with existing standards such as ISO 26262 and ISO 21448, it plays a crucial role in ensuring vehicle safety.

SafeGuardS 046.25 provides insights into both ISO 26262 and ISO 21448 and their roles in, respectively, the functional safety of electrical and electronic systems in vehicles, and the identification and assessment of risks associated with automated driving functions.

The SafeGuardS also demonstrates how the more recent ISO PAS 8800 fits in with these existing standards to create a holistic approach to safety, including artificial intelligence.
