Geneva (June 5, 2025) – SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 068.25 to keep stakeholders informed about recent changes to the Chinese product standard for children’s leather shoes – QB/T 2880, which may impact their business.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China released QB/T 2880-2024 on December 10, 2024. It came into effect on July 1, 2025, replacing the previous iteration, QB/T 2880-2016, and making several changes, additions and deletions. Changes include the definitions for ‘infant shoes’ and ‘children’s shoes’ and the requirements and testing methods for flexing resistance, abrasion resistance and hardness of outsole.

SGS experts publish SafeGuardS to keep stakeholders informed about regulatory and market changes that may impact their business. SafeGuardS 068.25 includes details of the main technical changes between the current and previous versions, along with a helpful comparison table listing the main technical requirements and test methods that should be employed.
