What is ‘really’ needed to drive Data Democratization in organizations?

It’s understandable. It’s a different language and we cannot expect everyone to be able to decode it.

cómo estás – confused?
It’s understandable. It’s a different language and we cannot expect everyone to be able to decode it.

The same is with data and analytics. For as far as memory goes, data has been owned and safeguarded by the IT department of the organization. To everyone else, it has come in chunks and pieces. Data Democratization has been an idle vision for many aspiring businesses, for a long time.

But that’s not an option in modern workplaces now. Workplace ecosystem has gone through many levels of transformation in the past few decades. With the level of competition and extremity of volatility in the market, organizations need to step up their ‘democratizing data’ game.

In our previous blogs, we have spoken at length about Data Democratization – the broad challenges and solutions. But there is something that no one has talked about yet. That is, what organizations really need to democratize data.

Before I jump to the concept, let me set the context right. We all watch news and read newspapers. But what if the language was so complicated that one had to google words for every sentence that was used in the newspaper or by the news anchor. The whole idea of democratizing news would be lost. Right?

It’s the same with data and analytics. The assumption that once data is available, people will be able to use it, is flawed. To be able to democratize data, businesses must focus on making it simple to use data.

It’s not just accessibility, it’s the comfort of using data that drives data democratization.

As CIOs and CDOs are investing into B.I applications and A.I powered solutions to make data accessible, they must understand that solely making data available will not be enough.

The thing with data is, it’s easily avoidable. Intuition takes over and often it’s not substantiated with real insights. Why?

1. Data is complex – Most of the dashboards provide data in complex graphs and charts. The end user includes personnel who are not comfortable with numbers. And it’s not going to change anytime soon if data remains complex for them.

Beagle is a unique B.I tool that is created with the vision to democratize data. The tool makes numbers looks so easy that it’s easier to choose it over intuition.

2. Data search is exhausting – Traditional dashboards share data in abundance. While they address the data accessibility issues set forth by remote work set-up, they make it almost impossible to find relevant data quick enough. Most people drop off midway looking for information they need.

Beagle functions on card technology – which means you get the data you are looking for within seconds. No fluff, just what you need.

3. Data is isolated – The main question is – are people able to connect the dots with data in hand? For most employees, it’s like – using data is an isolated function. But we must remember data has history. People need a platform where they can easily find the past records of data and collaborate on insights in real-time.

Beagle is built with an innovative feature – Narrative Boards – that lets people share, comment, and collaborate on data in real time within MS Teams. Just like your Facebook timeline, only more secure!

The crux of the matter is that keep your numbers easy and B.I tool easier, to drive data democratization. It’s either for everyone, or it’s for no one. Visit https://beagleanalytics.ai/data-democratization-tools/
