Celebrating individual and organisational achievements in e-learning, the Virtual Awards have been created by online learning provider, Virtual College, to recognise the staggering growth in e-learning.1

As the name suggests, these awards were held online, in keeping with the subject, and took place on 21th October 2013.

Entries were invited by Virtual College for 6 sector specific awards, from social housing through to councils and construction and 3 categories which were open to any industry sector.

Shortlisted entries for each category were judged by an independent panel including awards sponsors such as NICIEC, PACE and the Housing Ombudsman.

On the day of the awards, there was a series of announcements broadcast via social media channels. These linked to videos featuring highlights from finalists and revealed the winner for that category.

Sue Twist, Change Manager at ISS Facility Services – Integrated Solutions, winners of the Construction Sector Award, said: “We are absolutely delighted to win this award. The roll out of our e-Learning programme has been very successful with the majority of staff keen to participate in each module.

“I am sure once they know their hard work has been recognised by winning this award, it will provide even more encouragement!”

Peter Hilliard, Virtual College’s Marketing Manager, commented: “We have over one million online learners and think there are huge benefits in communicating our customers’ best practice to a wide audience.”

“The format of the Virtual Awards ticks lots of boxes. Time and resource pressures mean people often struggle to justify attending remote events.

“Although the awards are virtual, the winners will receive real trophies in addition to the kudos generated through subsequent publicity.”
