QLD Australia, June 2022 – The Australian Training Institute recently added two new courses for individuals who seek transport security screening roles. The courses AVI20118 – Certificate II in Transport Security Protection (Cargo) and AVI20118 – Certificate II in Transport Security Protection (Cargo, Domestic, International and Maritime) require interested course participants to have an ASIC or MSIC Job Ready Certificate (Background Check).

Individuals with specialist skills and are already employed and hold an ASIC or MSIC Card are also encouraged to join these courses.

While both courses provide the same transport security protection qualification, the AVI20118 – Certificate II in Transport Security Protection (Cargo) course offers just cargo protection. For this course, participants shall take five core units and four elective units.

The AVI20118 – Certificate II in Transport Security Protection (Cargo, Domestic, International and Maritime) course offers more options like domestic, international, and maritime cargo qualifications. It is designed with five core units and thirteen elective units.

The elective units for both courses train all participants on how to effectively undertake physical search of cargo and articles, identify and handle weapons, explosives, and prohibited items, and work effectively in a transport security environment. Course enrolees are also trained to effectively control access to and exit from a security-sensitive area and establish and maintain a sterile sensitive area.

Both courses are delivered via a blend of face-to-face and online learning methods. The pre-course work is done in an online and self-paced manner whilst the face-to-face work is done in a classroom setting. The trainer will review content, deliver activities, case scenarios, and practicals. To complete the course, all course enrolees shall take closed book exams.

The Australian Training Institute runs several training courses throughout the year, with the following opening dates:

July 4, 2022
August 29, 2022
October 5, 2022.
