India has a new party destination with India’s Raw Star on Star Plus!
Raipur, 20th September 2014: “These are not just any contestants. They are already stars because of their immense talent. I feel they are all original performers, and are better than me!” says Yo Yo Honey Singh who now begins his quest to find India’s Raw Star.

India’s favorite/ No. 1 entertainment channel Star Plus and India’s biggest youth sensation, Yo Yo Honey Singh have come together with first of its kind, unconventional singing reality show, which is redefining the genre. This weekly show that was launched on, 24th August at 7 pm on Star Plus has been getting great feedback from the audiences. Contenders from across the country with their unique singing styles are battling it out to become India’s Raw Star. Yo Yo Honey Singh who is a friend, mentor and guide of the contestants is looking into all the minute details of the show to make sure things look perfect. The show is hosted by the gorgeous Gauhar Khan, who is also a huge fan of Yo Yo Honey Singh.
Mohan Rathore & Rituranjan Mohanty performers on India’s Raw Star came to Raipur for the promotion of their show and upcoming episode. The duo where thrilled to explore the city. Mohan Rathore from Gajipur, has already made a career in playback singing since past 4 years. Mohan who was not given an opportunity to sing in a temple because people believed he had no standards, has already done over 17 movies and is very happy to achieve a place in the top ten position on the show. While Rituranjan Mohanty from Puri, started off with Roop Kumar Rathod when he came to Mumbai. He sang suroor from the album Mithi Sarghoshiya which flagged off his career. Rituranjan who likes to be called Rituraj has also sung for Satyamev Jayate, Aam Ke Aam Honge.

Everything about this show is different and unconventional. Unlike all other reality shows, where the audition process involves standing in long queues, India’s Raw Star conducted the first ever digital only auditions. People from all over the world sent in their video entries, which were personally scanned by Yo Yo Honey Singh and his team. Now that three weeks are down. The show has again called for entries and opened digital audition to get more contestants on the show. The digital auditions will start from 7th September and will call for entries from all over the world.

For the first time ever, an Indian singing show has introduced the concept of music choreography! Star Plus has roped in international choreographer Michael Schwandtl who has worked with artistes such as Katy Perry and Lady Gaga on their performances. He is working with the contestants to visually enhance their singing performance and make it a delight for viewers to watch. The show also has the celebrated Ashish Manchanda on board who will be heading the sound team. Ashish is the only Indian sound engineer to have worked with Michael Jackson and has worked on a number of international music shows.

Produced by Gajendra Singh’s – Sai Baba Productions, India’s Raw Star is on the lookout for the ultimate performing artist who can create their own inimitable style of singing, and is an all-round performer irrespective of the language of singing or the genre of music.

Speaking about the show, Gaurav Banerjee, General Manager, Star Plus said, “Star Plus has always been at the forefront of creating benchmarks. With India’s Raw Star, we are trying something unique in the singing reality show genre. The attempt is to reach out to the youth of this country and who better than the biggest youth icon, Yo Yo Honey Singh to take this ahead. This show will change the visual and music grammar of singing reality shows in India. All the 10 performers are very talented and Yo Yo Honey Singh has handpicked them so that the audiences get to see pure & raw talent.”

Yo Yo Honey Singh adds, “The talent on India’s Raw Star is unadulterated, just like maa ke haath ka khaana and I have tried my best to bring to you the best. It was a great experience to visit the homes of some of these contestants and pick them up as one of the top 10 for the show. During the training we are not tampering with their singing style, we are only grooming & sharpening their skills. India’s Raw Star is unlike any other singing reality show you would have seen on Indian Television. It’s a path breaking show that will break all stereotypes about talent shows.”
