Akshay Kumar plays the perfect mentor to the Dare 2 Dance contestants

If there’s one actor who believes in ‘practicing what you preach’, then that’s Akshay Kumar. The tagline of his latest show, Dare 2 Dance is ‘Jiski life mein dare nahi, uski khair nahi’, and the star seems to be applying that to his own self as well. The show throws in various challenges to the contestants, with them conquering their fear of heights, water, fire and more. Interestingly though, Kumar performs most stunts himself first before the contestants take on the challenge and accompanies them in their task, in case a contestant is apprehensive or scared.

Prince of Dance India Dance fame, who is one of the contestants on the show, expresses, “I have never seen an actor or a host who is so involved in the show and with the contestants. Akshay sir motivates us to do better, by first doing everything himself. If someone is scared to go underwater, he would go with them. Or for instance, Alisha (Singh) was scared of heights, so he went with her and shot her entire performance. He makes us all feel comfortable!”

Choreographer Sanjay Shetty who has designed all the performances of the show also recalls, “There was a task in which the contestants had to dance on a moving truck and Akshay sir was actually hanging from the moving truck, with camera in one hand, shooting the contestant’s performance. It was extremely risky, but he did it motivate the contestants. Then he shot another contestant’s performance by hanging outside a chopper. He did that just so that the contestants take inspiration from him and don’t give up! There couldn’t be a better person than him for a show like Dare 2 Dance.” The choreographer calls the star fearless. In fact, for a rappelling task he stood at the edge of a rock, 70 feet above the ground to shoot a performance. Now that’s some hardcore adventurous streak, we must say!

Dare 2 Dance, presented by Micromax and powered by Honda, goes on air from September 6, every Saturday and Sunday, 8.30 pm only on Life OK.
