Atlas Weavers aims to share the Berber fine art in the bohemian textiles and rugs and their meaning with the world. The Berber heritage and ancient weaving skills are indigenous to Moroccan tribes, and by sharing them, Atlas Weavers hopes to preserve this precious heritage. The rugs and runners offered on their online shop are designed and weaved in Morocco by village artisans, and the proceeds from the sale of the products are used to support the development of the artisans, their families, and the community.

“When I was young, my father sent me to live with my aunt high in the Middle Atlas mountains so that I could learn the language of my people, the Berbers,” Said the Founder of Atlas Weavers. “I learned more than the language. I learned by observation how the rugs that the western world love because of their intricate patterns and beauty are hand woven by the Atlas mountain weavers. Then I grew up and came to live in the United States, and the idea that I could market my people’s handiwork and use the proceeds to help them back home came to mind. I wanted to reach out to my Berber peoples and give back to my roots by supporting the creation of more designs and weaving fine artistic bohemian textiles and rugs that we could sell online. Atlas Weavers was formed, and we use it to support our weavers’ children to go to school to learn reading and writing in a bid to eliminate poverty among the Atlas Mountains communities.”
