Charleston, SC, July 15, 2013 -- Chicken Cock Whiskey, the famous prohibition era whiskey recently revived by Island Club Brands, has launched a sizzling summer promotion to find the coolest party pool in America. Consumers can enter through August 21st by supplying photos of pool parties from their condos, apartments or communities. The company will select five regional finalists from around the country, chosen from photo entries posted to the company’s Facebook, Twitter or Instagram by using the hashtag #rulethepool. Regional winners receive a Chicken Cock hosted bash, complete with DJ, BBQ, and – of course – great whiskey. The overall Grand Prize winner will be selected by popular vote on Facebook and receive a Caribbean Spring Break Cruise for two, including roundtrip airfare to Ft. Lauderdale. All entrants will receive a Chicken Cock branded pool toy, so everyone is a winner.

“When people think of parties, they don’t always think of whiskey, but we’re changing that,” said Matti Anttila, CEO of Island Club Brands, producers of Chicken Cock Whiskey. “Chicken Cock is a fun, sociable whiskey, with a slightly irreverent nature reminiscent of its days as a bootleg bourbon. It's a party starter suitable for every day as well as any occasion. As good with mixers as it is chilled or poured over ice, our whiskey even appeals to people who don’t consider themselves whiskey drinkers.”

Originally established in Paris, Kentucky in 1856, Chicken Cock Whiskey was relaunched this year and is generating widespread consumer demand, driven by the rising popularity of flavored whiskeys, one of the fastest-growing segments of the spirits industry. The brand gained notoriety during the Prohibition era as the clandestine house whiskey in Harlem’s legendary Cotton Club. When Francis Ford Coppola directed his homage to the era with his film "The Cotton Club," he went so far as to feature original bottles of Chicken Cock Whiskey to add to the authenticity of the movie.

"The brand was smuggled into the Cotton Club in sealed tin cans and was commonly referred to as “Chicken Cock, the whiskey in a tin can.” That history served as the inspiration behind the revitalized version's aluminum bottle," Anttila added. "It serves a modern purpose of keeping the whiskey cool and functional while harkening back to the brand's prohibition past."

Chicken Cock is celebrating the unique qualities that make it the perfect summer whiskey, especially for those who party poolside. The shatter-proof, quick-chill aluminum bottles are perfect for poolside ice chests at condominium and apartment pools where glass is forbidden. Additionally, Chicken Cock Whiskey contains far less sugar than other flavored whiskey brands, making it perfect for consumers who want to stay swimsuit-ready all summer long. Finally, the array of Chicken Cock Whiskey flavors appeals to a wide range of tastes, making it perfect for parties, whether mixed or straight.

There are nearly 9 million swimming pools in the U.S., which means there could be at least that many pool parties this summer. Where is America’s best party pool? Chicken Cock Whiskey is on a mission to find out. The company will feature select images submitted from around the U.S. on its website as the quest to #rulethepool gets underway with Chicken Cock, the Perfect Summer Whiskey.
