Reston, VA, December 06, 2013 -- iCONECT Development, LLC, technology leaders who reach beyond the status quo with an intuitive and flexible document review platform that works the way you think, are pleased to announce that the XERA Review Platform is being utilized as a learning tool as part of the Electronic Discovery and Digital Evidence graduate course curriculum at the University of Texas School of Law. iCONECT’s ground-breaking review platform enables students to experience hands-on training with one of the most powerful and versatile litigation support software platforms available today.

“Success in eDiscovery is closely tied to effective search and review skills. Each semester, I endeavor to expose my students to the search and review tools they will use in practice, and assign projects like those they'll face as lawyers,” states Adjunct Professor and industry expert Craig Ball, who instructs the course. “In selecting XERA, I appreciated the quick, can-do way the iCONECT executive team pitched in to supply instructional material, credentials for each student and a big, real-world data set to support our search and review exercises. I particularly liked XERA's support of both Mac and PC devices – a key consideration in education, where most students use Apple hardware."

Students of the Electronic Discovery and Digital Evidence course receive a head start in developing eDiscovery skills. They explore information technology, learn to “speak geek” and acquire hands-on, practical training in finding electronic evidence, meeting preservation duties, guarding against spoliation, selecting forms of production and managing the vast volume and variety of digital data and metadata. The course itself also reviews federal rules and eDiscovery case law with regard to the challenges presented by information technology and computer forensics.

“XERA is already used for some of the largest legal review projects in the world, so what better software for the students to learn,” says Iram Arras, Vice President of Product Strategy for iCONECT. “iCONECT’s XERA document review platform is designed to be very powerful, yet user-friendly and intuitive. Being a part of course curriculum development is vital to teaching best practices and preparing students to deal with complex projects after graduation.”

The affiliation with University of Texas is one of many implementations of the XERA platform as part of an education program in universities and colleges. These programs reach students worldwide combining study curriculum, industry savvy faculty and iCONECT’s XERA review platform to create a real-world environment in which students can learn.
