This idea is born out of the fact that once winter hits, many golf clubs shut down until spring. This represents a missed opportunity to increase member satisfaction and improve revenue. Off-Season Winter Bowls will provide both. “Clubs can stay open year round by offering Winter Bowls to their members and others. This great social activity is one of the fastest growing indoor socio-sports around the world because it is affordable and portable. Played indoors, in a clubhouse setting, Winter Bowls will enable those managing golf & country clubs to impress their members with the huge potential of this great off-season recreational activity. “To get started, all you really need are special carpets, jacks and carpet bowls. One set-up will entertain up to 8 people for an hour or two,” says Battista, who developed the concept.

He, further, suggests that clubs can offer Family Plans, where non-golfing family members can share the golf membership. Or, they can offer league play, such as Prime Time for those who work and Road Warriors for those who are done working. Winter Bowls will also make an attractive addition to Corporate Development Programs and Fundraising events. The more ambitious clubs can “rent out the day” to other smaller clubs so that they, too, can offer Winter Bowls to their own members.
