Austin, TX, September 23, 2014 -- September is hunger action month and Nimble Foods, an Austin-based meal delivery service, is taking a stand. In addition to matching meal donations for meals sold, they have also partnered with Keep Austin Fed to provide meals to the local Austin community. In turn, Nimble Foods hopes to bring awareness to the greater Austin area and help lead the local community in ending hunger.

Nimble Foods is an online meal-service company that delivers handcrafted, wholesome meals from their daily rotating menu. The team uses fresh foods to creatively bring nostalgic meals of joy to their hungry customers. “When we see food as an art and know that we live in one of the highest states with household food insecurities, we frankly get disheartened. So as a company, we decided to do something about it.,” said Kevin Cho, CEO of Nimble Foods. To start, Nimble Foods began donating unsold meals through Keep Austin Fed. By the end of 2014, they expect to donate over $5,000 in meal donations, serving meals to hundreds of Austin families.

Nimble Foods also chose to support Feeding America, as they have the infrastructure in place to make a significant impact on feeding the 16 million hungry children in America. “What if you had to worry about when and where your next meal will come from? Hunger is a sad reality for many Americans and it’s happening everywhere, even in our great city of Austin. But we can do something about it and begin bringing about positive change.” said Cho.

As Nimble Foods continues to grow, they strongly feel the importance of giving back and helping those in need. “Let’s face it, we are a relatively new company and largely became successful because the Austin community accepted us with open arms. With all the love and support we received, we want to give back and pay it forward. And during the month of September, we want to make an even larger impact.”

Nimble Foods understands that food donations and participation in Hunger Action Month is only a start towards fixing a greater need. They hope to raise community awareness, get Austinites motivated to act and begin to truly change hunger in Austin, one delivered-meal at a time.
