This procedure is indicated for patients who have a fracture in their backbone because of underlying osteoporosis / metastasis and causing significant pain and limited activities.

What is the underlying problem?
Bones get weakened due to ageing resulting in osteoporosis and may have a fracture with trivial trauma .

What are the consequences of postponing / worst complication if left untreated?
Unless treated at the right time the fracture causes mass effect on spinal cord , and weakness of both lower limbs may set in.

How is it diagnosed?
CT/ MRI Spine.

What are the steps of procedure?
The vertebra is accessed with help of needle like special devices and cement is injected under fluoroscopy guidance.

Why Percutaneous approach?
As most of the patients are unfit for the surgical options and interventional radiology offers solution through a 3mm hole under local anaesthesia as a day care procedure.
