ICMEI Environment Committee Observed National Pollution Control Dayl, Dr. Sandeep Marwah President of ICMEI

Noida: National pollution Control Day is observed on December 2 to create awareness among people about environmental pollution and its disastrous consequences.

“The National Pollution Control Day is observed every year in remembrance of those who lost their lives in the biggest Gas tragedy of Bhopal City when the dangerous gas methyl isocyanate leaked out of the Union Carbide plant on the intervening night of December 2-3 in 1984. The effects of that disaster can be felt even now after more than 35 year,” informed Dr. Sandeep Marwah President of International Chamber of Media And Entertainment Industry in the meeting of Environment Committee of ICMEI conducted in association with AAFT University.

“The key objectives are to educate people about the importance of pollution control acts and making them aware about industrial disasters. The day aims to bring awareness to people about prevention of air, soil, noise, and water pollution,” added Dr. Marwah.

The National Health Portal of India data reveals that around 7 million people die every year due to air pollution. The data also reveals that nine out of ten people globally do not have access to clean and safe air.

This year’s theme for the Pollution Control Day is to raise awareness about the importance of pollution control measures and to educate people on how to prevent pollution.
