You can apply for settlement, if you are a legal spouse or widow of a Gurkha soldier. We can also assist children of former Gurkha soldiers to settle in the UK.

The fearsome Nepalese soldiers have been part of the British Army for almost 200 years, their motto is "Better to die than be a coward". One might not remember the historical facts but you will recall the fierce battle to give retired Gurkhas the right to settle in the UK. In 2009, arrangements were made also to allow those who had retired before July 1997 to remain in the UK, together with their families.

However, a current Home Office policy refuses indefinite leave to over-18s not already present and settled in the UK, who do not qualify under specific immigration rules, and have not previously been granted leave to enter or remain "as part of the family unit".

As a result of legislation in the U.K immigration law, many former Gurkha soldiers are now able to settle in the UK.A Gurkha must have served in the British Army for at least four years in order to apply for settlement in the UK. Furthermore, you can apply for settlement, if you are a legal spouse or widow of a Gurkha soldier. We can also assist children of former Gurkha soldiers to settle in the UK.

Whether or not you take up this option is, of course, a difficult decision that has far reaching consequences for you and your family. We strongly recommend that, before reaching a decision you seek advice. Moving is not an easy step; there are many problems and pitfalls along the way. If you decide to settle in the UK, please do not hesitate to contact us for help.
