City Council approves $3 million package for downtown projection park

We told you HERE in October 2017 and HERE in October 2020 that the City of Orlando was inching ever closer to starting construction of a new projection park in the Downtown Business District, and it appears, that we have another update one year later

– the park is expected to be open by spring 2022.

The new park will be named Art² and will be built on the southwestern corner of Orange Avenue and Robinson Street, on property that is being donated to the City by Dr Phillips Charities – the same organization that is building The Packing District on OBT and Princeton.

The project was awarded to audio/visual company Ascend Studios (Facebook | Website) via a bid process and will incorporate a two-story structure built with shipping containers that will house a coffee/gift shop and a special event venue on the second floor.

Other notable features include hammocks, large-scale video boards, and space for two food trucks; one of which will be used for six-month residencies and the other will be rotated on a more regular basis.
