28th July 2011 - Since the introduction of Team Building Exercises in the professional management and corporate sector, a lot of companies have started experimenting with the method a lot. Nowadays, a lot of firms believe that bringing the staff together and giving them a game to play can provide the results that they are looking for but it is a waste of time and effort. There are things which the facilitator or the organizer has to do in order to push the staff in the right building direction. The following lines provide information on how these results can be achieved.
The first thing which the facilitator should do is to make everything simple as the motive of the exercise is to bring comfort in their working chemistry. Getting complex games is going to take away from the experience as well as the desired results. The next thing which should be done is to make medium or small sized groups as people have difficulty directly relating to large sized groups. Hence, make sure that the groups are divided in between four to six people or even less for small companies.
The next thing which should be done is to make sure that the instructions said by the facilitator or the organizer are easier to follow. Giving complex instructions for simple game are going to ruin the fun and the experience of working together. Moreover, the exercise should be able to engage the members in the task quickly as opposed to taking time to get the groove going. The problems should allow the room for multiple solutions to manifest as that enhances the creativity of the team and brings in togetherness of diverse viewpoints.
The difficulty level can be enhanced by implementing silence or always asking them to go for different ways. The most important thing when it comes to Team Building exercises is the end. The facilitator should be able to bring out the desired results by asking them questions regarding their experience and what did the staff learn through the game. These would make sure that all the necessary experiences and working chemistry is generated within the team and the additional staff.
