She says that classical music can regain its cultural significance only if the current musicians courageously engage with it and try to read between the lines of the music score. Meanwell has grown up listening to many classical music composers, but her favorites include George Gershwin, John Philip Sousa, Aaron Copland, Leonard Bernstein, Charles Edward, and Scott Joplin.
