Ginger Scientifically Proven Anti-Inflammatory

For someone in pain, relief becomes a one track driving force. Prescription painkillers are powerful and can be addictive if prescribed without proper knowledge of their side effects. For chronic pain sufferers, finding a way through the bad days is imperative. Recent studies have found a natural, organic anti-inflammatory in the form of Ginger.

Ginger has long been used to help stimulate appetite for cancer patients under-going chemotherapy treatments and pregnant women who are suffering from nausea due to morning sickness. More recently, studies have shown it has great promise as an anti-inflammatory and pain reliever for sufferers of arthritis. A recent study by the University of Miami actually found a 40% reduction in pain and swelling over those taking a placebo.

The study’s lead author, Roy Altman, MD, noted that this “research shows that ginger affects certain inflammatory processes at a cellular level”.

Another study published recently in the Journal of Pain stated “that daily doses of ginger are effective for relieving muscle pain following strenuous exercise.”

While Ginger is perfect as an addition to any food dish, it can also be utilized as a poultice with warm water and wrapped on the inflamed area. Or it can be taken in capsule form as a supplement daily with meals. Ginger powder can be added to tea and Ginger extract can be taken as a liquid medicinal by the spoonful.

Working in combination with Turmeric, which addresses more of the nerves and neuropathy pain, Ginger offers chronic pain sufferers relief without the side effects and addictive possibilities of pharmaceutical alternatives.

In addition to helping relieve pain and nausea including pain such as menstrual cramps or sore muscles after a workout, Ginger is being studied for a more promising future in health care – as a treatment for certain cancer tumors.
