The exhibition is a juried exhibition to showcase outstanding original visual art that depicts the human form from artists around the area. It is open to both professional and emerging artists using various styles of visual media. Some people feel that the human form is something that should be hidden away in art, Exposed 2012 will feature paintings, photography and sculptures celebrating the human figure, both male and female.

Using the raw human figure, the artist can show humanity in a way that focuses the attention on the figure and not irrelevant matters like how their shirts are buttoned, how their skirts are being draped, and whether they are wearing the most stylish kind of hat. The ability of the artist to focus attention on the important aspects of what is going on and to remove distractions from this subject of focus is a common reason for the choice of human figures as well. Since the beginning of creating, the human body has been the most beautiful thing on this Earth. Throughout time, some of the greatest artists in the history of the world have come to know that there is nothing more aesthetic than the human shape.

The exhibit will hold an opening reception during the Raleigh First Friday Art exhibition November 2nd and again on December 7th. The gallery will be open for viewing by appointment through November. Exposed 2012 will be shown at Litmus Gallery, 312 West Cabarrus St, Raleigh NC 27601.
