National Innovation Startup Policy Event at VCE Warangal

Vaagdevi College of Engineering on 7th December 2019 hosted a 3-hour workshop event with a student strength of 300 and 20 faculty members belonging to various technical and management departments.

 
Vaagdevi College of Engineering on 7th December 2019 hosted a 3-hour workshop event with a student strength of 300 and 20 faculty members belonging to various technical and management departments. The workshop is intended for students and faculty on 'National Innovation and Start-up Policy (NISP)', a program mandated by the Govt. of India, MHRD-Institution’s Innovation Council (MIC) and organised by Institute Innovation Cell (IIC) of VCE. The objectives of the workshop are to introduce the concept of innovation that is of utmost importance in today’s era, presenting case studies, best practices to inculcate innovation in our daily life and understanding the Government policies for innovation and Startups. The workshop was intended to integrate practical sessions for students & faculty to develop innovative thinking using core subjects. The speakers of the workshop, Dean IIIC Prof. A. Chandramouli, Chief Coordinator IIC, Dr Nishu Gupta addressed Entrepreneurship promotion and development and importance of Student and faculty startup Policy and action plan. IIC coordinators of various departments, Dr Ayesha Banu and Er. Salim A. Jiwani (CSE), Dr Pankaj H. Rangaree and Dr Hemant Kumar Gupta (ECE), Dr G. Ravi Kumar (MBA), Dr Mutthulaxamanan (ME), Dr B. Durga Harikiran (EEE) and Er. Syed Mubashir Hussain (CE) came together to make the event successful.

The workshop shed light on innovation and need for innovative thought process, need of encouraging students towards innovation through pre-incubation activities at their early stage and to support the pathway from ideation to innovation to market, adopt mechanisms that support the plan at the institution level. The workshop focused on ways to link budding startups and companies ideated by students and faculty with a wider entrepreneurial ecosystem and by providing support to students who show potential, in the pre-startup phase. Connecting student entrepreneurs with real-life entrepreneurs will help the students in understanding real challenges which may be faced by them while going through the innovation funnel and will increase the probability of success. Pedagogical changes were discussed that need to be done to ensure that a maximum number of student projects and innovations are based around real-life challenges. The workshop created awareness through interactive sessions from Innovation Cell, Entrepreneurship Development Cell, Incubation Centre, IPR Cell and facilities within the institute on start-up ecosystem and nurturing i.e. VAAGDEVI INCUBATION AND BUSINESS ACCELERATOR (VIBA). The panel discussion concluded the event in the latter half of the 3hr workshop where the student participants asked questions, clarified their doubts and queries from the IIC Team.
