There are many different academic courses as well that will help you pursue a career as a real estate agent. But apart from that there are very specific eligibility criteria to fulfill.
The real estate license requirements vary from one state to another but there are few generic requirements as well. When you are fully aware of these criteria, determining your career path becomes easier.
 The age criteria
The age is a major factor in terms of real estate license requirements. The candidate opting for this career choice should be at the least 18 years old to get the license. However, there is always some difficulty for such younger agents who are new in the business.
Since the sphere is dominated by older agents who are more experienced, young agents have a difficult time in getting good business. However, they bring fresher perspective to the process which is why the demand for younger professionals in this domain is growing.
 Educational background
The qualification required various from one state to another and is dependent on several factors. Hence to understand the requirements to get real estate license, you must go through the state policies thoroughly. Here are a few general ideas about the education:
• Some state requires only high school graduation certificate to give license for real estate agents
• Formal educational qualification till high school is not mandatory in certain states. Only meeting the minimum age criteria will do
• Post-secondary education is required in a few states for licensure

The requirements to get real estate license vary based on the type of license you want. There is the prelicensing process and post-licensing process.
Prelicensing require minimum pre-licensing education to be completed in all the states to be permitted. The hours and course curriculum varies from one place to another in this case. Also, qualifying from a good real estate school that is authorized with the minimum marks is important.
The post-licensing process also have specific educational requirements. Furthermore, it is also known as the first renewal process for the license and is mandatory to keep practicing the profession. The requirement can also consist of certain classes or series of classes which you must attend for the license to be granted.
 Broker affiliation
This is very important to start the business even if you acquire the license. This means, unless you are working with a broker, you cannot start practicing the profession even if you have the license. You can get various support services from the broker you are working with and hence this is advantageous and a necessity.
The real estate business is very prosperous provided you are following the codes related to the business. Licensing is one such code that must be taken very seriously. When you have a proper license, growing as a real estate agent becomes much easier and eventually can lead to huge profits.
