Role playing games (RPGs) are the games in which the gamer controls character or characters, fictional or historical, to complete a quest. There are hundreds of RPGs most of them are there to buy, but there are some free RPGs too.
Elements of RPGs:-
RPGs include these basic elements:

● Combat.

RPGs usually test the player’s physical skills. RPGs share some combat elements with wargames. RPGs have a small group of individual units and war games include large groups of same units and also have tanks and airplanes. RPGs do not usually include these kind of units however some RPGs have. RPGs are based on some sort of story not like some puzzle or sport games.
Origin and history of RPG Video Games:-
RPG video games are generally evolved from tabletop RPGs where the player used pen, paper, cards to play role playing games. RPGs began In 1970 on mainframe computers. These were inspires by pen-and –paper RPGs such as Dungeons and Dragons. Other source of inspiration are tabletop war games, sport simulation games, adventure games, and strategy games. Forst RPGs were single player but in 1990 multiplayer options added to the RPGs. Today on of the top online RPGs is Warcraft.

● Online RPGs, these are multi-player games in which different players from different devices share the same game.

There are some big companies which produce some nice RPGs. These companies are in a heavy competition. Because of this competitive atmosphere, these companies also offer free RPGs.

The mobile gaming is rapidly increased since the smart phones have come. Two major Smartphone platforms are Android and ios. Game developers took these platforms seriously and made some top online RPGs for them too like Clash of clans, Boom Boom beach. Both of these games are strategic RPGs. Player plays the role of a king to build an army to survive the attack and to destroy his enemy.
