The City of Louisville Metro Government's (LGC) Transportation Department is responsible for maintaining and operating the elevator system across town. To keep a clean and safe environment, elevators are inspected regularly by a qualified elevator inspector who conducts routine maintenance checks and inspections to ensure the systems meet safety standards. An elevator inspector travels to the top five floors and performs regular inspections that could extend up to six miles from the elevator base channel.
When an elevator door lands on an occupant's foot, the object leaves the platform and travels for many feet. This is referred to as hard effects. A lot of people die in falls due to a hard impact. Due to improper maintenance, some escalators have holes in the doors or they are improperly installed with a handrail, making it impossible for the occupant to secure themselves.
Hard impacts also occur when an occupant uses the escalator to go up or down a level, in a dangerous manner which puts them at risk of falling. Hard impacts may also result in the occupant. This is referred to as a rapid or sudden acceleration that may cause injury.
A properly functioning security system allows passengers to get off of the elevator. The elevator arrives at the destination floor, waits for the passenger to climb out of the elevator, then departs in the destination floor. This eliminates the risk of passengers falling out of the elevator, colliding with another passenger, or falling as they get to the ground floor.
At the elevator's Louisville office, employees have weekly open house hours where they will inspect and check the security. Additionally, LGC maintains a list of the elevators in operation. All elevators are inspected by the building superintendent and the elevator contractor for any necessary repairs.
The city has strict laws regulating how lifts must operate and maintain in compliance with the local, state, and federal government's security standards. The business has a certified program for safety inspections. If an elevator poses a safety threat, the elevator inspector will inspect it to determine whether it needs to be fixed, upgraded, or serviced.
An elevator is operated through the morning, afternoon, and evening peak periods. When an elevator experiences a service interruption due to equipment failure, it may result in distress or an increase. When lifting Louisville is experiencing problems, LGC will notify the public and program train service for the affected elevator. If the elevator is working properly, the elevators will go back to operating status whenever possible.
Elevator Louisville services also offer elevator repairs. When lifting in Louisville requires repairs, the business provides tools, materials, and equipment. Repairs also include parts and accessories. Elevator Louisville provides repairs to elevators, escalators, stair lifts, and travel roll-in showers.
