Spike in Calls Leads to Early Air Conditioning Repairs

Andersen Heating & Cooling is your go to company for all your air conditioning and heating service needs. Our services include air conditioner and furnace repairs, system replacement, preventative maintenance and financing if needed.

Andersen Heating and Cooling announced it saw a dramatic increase in air conditioning repair calls last week due to unseasonably warm weather. The average high temperature in Charlotte last week was 78 degrees, eight degrees warmer than the same week in 2014, prompting homeowners to turn on their air conditioning systems earlier than in seasons past. “We saw a dramatic increase in calls, especially towards the end of the week, and had technicians working late into the evening and over the weekend to get heat relief for our customers,” says Carrie Ivester, general manager at Andersen. “The cooling season is upon us, and we encourage homeowners to have their air conditioning units serviced with regular maintenance now, before the truly hot and humid weather arrives.”

Andersen recommends your heating and cooling system be serviced twice a year. Preventative maintenance can help homeowners ensure their systems are running safely and efficiently, often avoiding untimely and costly repairs. “Most people wait until they have an urgent need before contacting us,” says Ivester. “Turning your cooling system on now ensures we can get to you now before the heat is on.” In the HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) industry in the greater Charlotte metro area, May through August is the busiest time of the year. “HVAC companies know this, they prepare for it. Our goal is to make sure you receive quality work in a timely manner, with courtesy and outstanding service,” adds Ivester. “We want to get you set up so that your air conditioning isn’t even on your mind this summer.”

Andersen Heating and Cooling has been servicing and repairing all makes and models of heating and air conditioning equipment for over 30 years in the greater Charlotte area. They also offer system replacement if a homeowner is ready to upgrade to something more energy efficient. The Department of Energy set new Regional Efficiency Standards that went into effect January 1, 2015. These changes transition the minimum efficiency standards in the South Region, which includes the Charlotte area, from 13 SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating) to 14 SEER. Just like Miles Per Gallon (MPG) measures the efficiency of a vehicle, a higher SEER rating ensures less energy will be used. While some 13 SEER equipment is still available, Ivester says most homeowners understand the importance of, and want to invest in, more efficient equipment to keep energy costs down. “Andersen has the ability to start you out at 14 SEER and reach as high as 26 SEER,” Ivester states. She adds, “There are calculators online available

to help homeowners see their energy savings over a period of time with different efficiency levels.” As air conditioning season is now here, she encourages anyone who has questions to call Andersen Heating and Cooling’s office at 704-596-2525 or visit us at http://www.andersenservices.com.
