Community members of yoga and meditation centre Vagabond Temple lead personal community projects to nourish their talent and to give back to the centre, the locals, and the environment.

[CAMBODIA, 19/07/2017] - The students of Vagabond Temple, a yoga and meditation retreat centre in Cambodia, host community projects as part of their long-stay retreat program. Each student or community member, as the centre refers to them, leads a personal community project based on his/her interest, skill, or passion.

Vagabond Temple Community Member Projects

This portion of the retreat program seeks to enable community members to develop or explore their unique talents. The centre’s teachers and other community members support each member’s projects.

Previous community member projects revolved around helping the environment, the locals, or fellow Vagabond Temple students. Projects include:

• gardening projects
• beach clean-ups
• recycling and other sustainability projects
• English lessons for the locals
• leading group meditation
• art decorations for the retreat centre
• volunteering events for local school

Two-Month Yoga Retreat Program

The community member projects are part of Vagabond Temple’s two-month yoga retreat program. The program lasts for 56 nights, to be exact. At a discounted price, community members gain full access to the house facilities of Vagabond Temple and three vegan meals per day. The centre provides bananas, water, and herbal tea throughout the day.

The daily program includes classes on meditation, spiritual philosophy, dharma and focus. Selfless service, or Karma Yoga, is also taught.
The community members are given movie nights on Wednesdays and free nights on Saturdays. For an additional fee, members may learn detox programs and Reiki healing courses.
