[KEP, 20/3/2018]—Vagabond Temple in Cambodia holds long-day retreats that provide an opportunity for healing and self-development. By promoting interaction with the local community, the retreat offers an immersive and cultural experience.
Spiritual Exploration Through Cultural Immersion
Vagabond Temple's long-day retreat consists of 56 nights of personal and communal meditation, yoga and nutrition. Apart from the daily retreat schedule, the retreat's highlight is a chance to interact with the local community.
Participants will be able to integrate their spiritual learning into their daily life through personal projects. The project will be chosen by participants according to their passion and skill set as a way to give back to the local community. Previous attendees taught English to local Khmer people, created art and volunteered at local schools.
What Participants Can Learn
Apart from the immersion program, participants can expect to learn several meditation techniques and self-development habits. For example, attendees can learn certain yoga postures and breathing exercises such as Asana and Pranayama.
Participants can also learn about the energetic anatomy of the body. They can learn how to channel their energy through different techniques like Reiki, Tai Chi and Tantra Yoga. Additionally, participants will be able to develop a detoxifying nutritional guideline inspired by Ayurveda, an ancient Indian method of natural healing.
