Dr. Idlibi cares about all of his patients and wants to help them protect their teeth against sugar, cavities, and tooth decay.

Most children crave sweet things such as juice. However, there are many children’s juices that are sweetened with sugar, high fructose corn syrup, and artificial sweeteners. These juices are also frequently filled with preservatives. Apple juice, cranberry juice, and other bottled juices may seem like a healthy choice, but the truth is that many of them are packed with harmful sugars. Ammar Idlibi is a pediatric dentist who wanted to take on this challenge. He began working with a beverage chemist in February of 2010, and six months later they had a working formula.

Dr. Idlibi’s goal was to create a fruit beverage that was sweet, but did not have all of the harmful sugars. The solution was to use Xylitol, a natural sugar alcohol. This substance sweetens beverages and foods, but rather than harm teeth, it strengthens them. Xylitol of frequently used in mouthwashes, toothpastes, and sugar free gums. This substance helps remineralize teeth and fights against cavities. Dr. Idlibi patented the beverage and approached Coca-Cola, however, the company officials did not believe there was an immediate need for healthy sweet beverage. Ammar Idlibi knew that there was, and began working with Kiko Foods Inc. of Louisiana to bottle his drink, Healthy Sweet.

The only flavor available is fruit punch, however, Idlibi is working on a grape flavor. He is also considering expanding the product and creating flavors such as mango, kiwi, and berry. He also looks forward to creating more than just beverages after Healthy Sweets gains popularity. Parents can purchase this beverage at Dr. Idlibi’s practice in Bristol, Connecticut. He also hopes to be selling it in stores soon. Ammar Idlibi is a pediatric dentist who deeply cares about oral health. He wants to help children fight cavities and tooth decay.
