Cumin Seeds
The cumin seeds are obtained from the cuminumcyminum, plant which is in the parsley family. It is classified botanically as an annual herb, growing to a height of up to 30 cm tall, and a well branched stem. It has its origins in the Mediterraneanareas and has wide usage in the Indian continent as traditional spice in very many recipes.They have numerous health benefits such as in aiding digestion, enhancing body immunity, treatment of insomnia, action against respiratory disorders, skin diseases and in the treatment of hemorrhoids.

Castor Seeds
The seeds are derived from the castor oil plant called Ricinuscommunis, which is a perennial plant. It has its origins in the Mediterranean and the east Africa region but has also spread to other tropical regions in the world. The crop has been found to have high oil content ranging between 40 to 60 % and high in triglycerides. The seeds have numerous medicinal uses apart from being a great Indian spice, and these include;

Relieves rheumatism
Management of menstrual disorders
Relief of constipation
In lactation among breast feeding mothers
In skin care
Prevention and elimination of intestinal worms in children.

Fennel Seeds
This is a plant in the carrot family that is viewed among the sacred herbs in the AngloSaxon. It is highly sought after spice, and an ingredient in many cuisines. It is biologically referred to as Foeniculumvulgare Var. dulce.It is an important spice in India and Asian continent and it also has numerous health benefits such asanti-oxidants, supply of dietary fiber, minerals as well as vitamins to the body. The seeds also have essential oils for the body acting as anti flatulence and having carminative properties as well.

Fenugreek Seeds
This plant belongs to the fabaceae family, and the seeds are important components of dishes and recipes in the southern Asia. It is a very important spice in the Indian house hold, and used in almost every dish,it is locally referred to as “Methi’’. The seeds have great nutritional and medicinal properties such as:

Lowering of blood cholesterol
Reducing the risk of heart disease
They contain galactomannans useful in management of blood sugar levels
Aiding digestion
Prevention of colon cancer and other important uses.

Mustard Seeds
They are very small, with diameter of 1 – 2 mm, derived from the mustard plant. It is an important spice in India, Pakistan,Nepal, and Bangladesh. It is forms an important ingredient in fish preparations such as the jhaaland paturi. They are also a good source of essential oils and protein to the body.

Sesame Seeds
They are derived from the Sesamumradiatum plant which has its origins in the African continent but has since spread to Asia. It is among the oldest domesticated oilseed plants, and has a rich and nutty flavor, thus widely used in many cuisines. In India, it is used in various recipes such as the pumpkin preparations, Tadka,tahini (sesame seeds paste) and many more. They are good sources of minerals, like calcium, magnesium, iron, phosphorous and vitamin B1 to the body.

Cassia Tora seeds
They are obtained from the Cassia Obtusifolia Plant. The roasted seeds have been used in Asia for their good flavor as well as numerous health benefits. In Korea they have been used in tea preparation. They have also been used in treatment of ailments like hypertension, night blindness and constipation.
